The Fine Art Center is a non-profit cooperative of artists who use this gallery to display and sell their work, to hold workshops, and to hold other events that help The Fine Art Center to raise funds.  We are specifically focused on giving youth and people with disabilities an outlet for displaying their art.  We hosted the VSA Ohio Accessibility Expressions Exhibit this year, which is an exhibit of artwork by people with disabilities from all over Ohio.
Our cooperative had over 20 members last year.  Each member contributes $160 each month for continuing operation of the gallery.  This amount basically pays the monthly rent ($2480).  During this and last year we have lost a high number of members.  Recently we lost eight crucial members.  We now are down to nine members, and the monthly dues will not even pay the rent.  We need about $4500 each month to pay all our bills (rent, utilities, lease on our point of sale system, etc).  This gallery has been in operation for 22 years, and we are deeply saddened by the possibility that we will have to close at the end of this year.
We need funds as soon as possible, certainly before the end of 2016 in order to stave off eviction by the mall property owners.
I am the president of the gallery and one of the member artists.  I have been involved with this gallery for over six years, and I am deeply saddened to have to tell people we cannot remain open, and to see a long-running and much-loved gallery close.
Our appreciation will be very heartfelt, and we will express our appreciation through advertising our donors’ names (if they want that), or to offer art at discount rates.

A High Tea – American Style took place on Monday, September 26 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at The Fine Art Center at Cross Pointe.  email-size-high-tea-06email-size-high-tea-08email-size-high-tea-09TFAC offered a High Tea and art presentation in our Art Room at the TFAC gallery.  The tea included finger sandwiches, pastries, and tea, of course.  A fascinating presentation on the great Georgia O’Keefe was presented by Rina Thau, former president of the gallery and docent at the Dayton Art Institute.  This was a lovely, Downton Abbey-nostalgic event and had capacity attendance.  Thanks to all who participated.  Keep an eye out for our next High Tea.

Sculptures by BobBush are now at The Fine Art Center!!  These are extremely creative sculptures which are located in the Visiting Artist Area, please stop by to see this creative exhibit.

Lyons Place is new apartment building in Dayton for low income and homeless veterans. The Fine Art Center (TFAC) member Lucille Carroll and her husband had visited this new facility and presented TFAC members with the idea of providing Lyons Place some artwork to hang on the new walls. She asked TFAC members for donations and collected 35 pieces of art from the members for Lyons Place. Last Thursday the art works were hung on the walls and the residents were excited to see the beautiful art in their facility. It helped make the three story facility feel a little more like home for the residents. More art will be added in the future. Thanks go to Lucille and TFAC members for helping care for our vets!!
