Our cooperative had over 20 members last year. Each member contributes $160 each month for continuing operation of the gallery. This amount basically pays the monthly rent ($2480). During this and last year we have lost a high number of members. Recently we lost eight crucial members. We now are down to nine members, and the monthly dues will not even pay the rent. We need about $4500 each month to pay all our bills (rent, utilities, lease on our point of sale system, etc). This gallery has been in operation for 22 years, and we are deeply saddened by the possibility that we will have to close at the end of this year.
We need funds as soon as possible, certainly before the end of 2016 in order to stave off eviction by the mall property owners.
I am the president of the gallery and one of the member artists. I have been involved with this gallery for over six years, and I am deeply saddened to have to tell people we cannot remain open, and to see a long-running and much-loved gallery close.
Our appreciation will be very heartfelt, and we will express our appreciation through advertising our donors’ names (if they want that), or to offer art at discount rates.
